I thought I was an experienced house seller but the market had just begun to falter. I read an article about home stagers and then contacted Lisa Skelley. She was professional, efficient and walked through the house with a non-stop list of changes that she suggested. At the beginning, I was a little put off - she was altering our house! Then it hit me, that was the idea. Her changes would offer the house to others' viewpoints. I was amazed and gratified. Most of the ideas were easy to accomplish, I mean I did then in a day. Some involved a little investment - lamp here, a bedspread for the master. Actually, I liked those changes enough to incorporate them in our new house. As we were making a local move, I thought that it would be worth utilizing her point of view and style in the new house. Again, she made room-by-room suggestions, including recommendations for finding the items. One memorable suggestion was an man who specialized in old lighting. We bought an art deco chandelier from him that pleases me each time I pass it. So, Lisa has my whole-hearted recommendation as a stager, designer and overall evaluator of homes.

I know even after all of my hard work, I was the GC, the handyman, the installer, the painter etc., the first thing everyone says when they come into the house is that they love the colors. They always ask what the names of the colors are and how did we select them. We always say we don't remember the color names (even though we have the swatches hidden away), and that the color selection was a lot of hard work. I think using a great decorator is like having a great babysitter you don't want anyone to know your secret. It seems that everyone wants everyone else to think that it’s natural for them to put things together, when for us it’s so far from the truth. We could not have done it without you!

We have consulted with Lisa on three different occasions and found her to be extremely helpful. The first time, we needed help coordinating flooring, carpeting, and wall colors in our great room. Her talent for re-decorating helped us re-position furniture and select wall decor from our current and "retired" pieces which kept us within our budget while giving us the new look we wanted. She helped us find wall colors that we could enjoy by carefully observing and listening to determine what our taste and goals were.

We like working with Lisa because she is very knowledgeable about the use of color and physical arrangement, but she lets us take the lead on the overall design. We trust her to keep us from making expensive mistakes. The last time we consulted her, it was basically to confirm that we weren't making a mistake in our choice of dark walnut flooring for our kitchen which worked out beautifully.
